Microsoft to Remove Control Panel from Windows Soon
Microsoft has announced on its support site that it will soon be removing the Windows Control Panel and recommends using the Settings app instead, which offers a more modern and optimized interface.
The company explained that Control Panel currently exists for compatibility reasons and to provide access to some settings that have not yet been migrated.
Control Panel first appeared in Windows in 1985 with the release of version 1.0. Rumors of its demise first surfaced in 2011 with the release of Windows 8, but the app has continued to exist to this day.
